OK, a correction. the two applications that I get warnings about are MMC and GUI MFC... a simple warning box saying "Blank application has stopped working. Windows will search for a solution." is the only info it gave me... and I can't get more info without Event Viewer... but Event Viewer is probably tied to these two errors. Doh!
I'll probably run a repair install when I get back from work... off to the salt mines!
Had to run the repair install to get Event Viewer back. I'm still trying to get my system back to normal... most things went smoothly, like the custom icons and themes, but I have a library problem now. The repair install renamed my second HD from K: to D:, and now I can't access any of my documents, music, videos, or pictures. Well, I can see they are there if I go through Computer>D>doc, music, etc... but I can't access them through libraries, explorer, restorator, etc... all of the paths are broken.
Install them where? They are already on the second HD... its disk letter has just been changed. I think it would be easier and neater to find a way to make the drive letters match... or should I overwrite or move/replace the data on disk D: with the version saved in Windows.old? Will that fix the broken paths?
PS taking ownership of the entire Windows.old file takes an extremely long time... heh.
I think that the easiest way is to change the drive letters, so they match. I will have to research to find out the best way.
