Shutdown takes a while after screen turns off

    Shutdown takes a while after screen turns off


    My computer's been starting to do something odd lately. While shutting down, after the screen turns off, it takes a while (over 10 seconds) for the power to go completely off. The time it takes to do this seems to be increasing every shutdown. The only thing I've downloaded lately is a game on Steam and updated Avast. Should I be worrying about this?

    Hmm... I don't think that's the issue. The screen turns off as normal after showing the shutting down screen, and then the power doesn't go out for a while.

I have WIN 7 64-bit and recently shutdowns are taking over 3 mins - no other problems are showing so far . What sort of things should be done to investigate this problem ?
When I shutdown my computer my display turns off, so I am guessing that my graphics card shuts down, but nothing else shuts down, and I am forced to manually shutdown. Please help. I'm currently pissed off about tmy unit which is taking too long to shutdown. I've tried the methods posted here to lessen the startup time and shut-down time of a computer but it only affected the booting process. when I shutdown it still takes that long even with the tweaks. Please...
