Error 0xc0000428 after installing Different OS on second drive

Hello Forum,

Synopsis:

1. I encountered the hex code error 0xc0000428 AFTER installing Windows Server 2012 R2 on the second drive of my dual boot system

Brief History:

1. I have a dual boot system with the original setup as follows: My primary drive was running Windows 7 Professional while the second drive was running Windows Server 2008
2. I replaced the Windows 2008 Server by installing Windows Server 2012 R2 by the following steps:
   
   1. Placed the Windows Server 2012 R2 Installation disc into the DVD drive. Shutdown the system.
   2. Disconnected the cable for the primary drive running Windows 7
   3. Rebooted the system, and pressed F8 to enter the BIOS boot options and selected the DVD drive
   4. Installed Windows 2012 on the second hard drive
   5. Shutdown the system
   6. Reconnected the primary hard drive cable
   7. Rebooted the system and when the BIOS boot screen appeared, it had Windows 7 and Windows 2008 (recovered) instead of Windows 2012
   8. I selected Windows 2008 entry as my boot option to see if it would boot the 2012 Operating System but the following error message was returned:
      
      1. File: Windows\System32\winload.exe
      2. Status: 0xc0000428
      3. Info: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file
      
      
   
   

Attempted Correction

1. Pressed the Windows Key + R and entered msconfig
   
   1. From System Config/Boot tab, I deleted the Windows 2008 Entry, checked the 'Make all boot settings permanent' checkbox, and then pressed the OK button
   2. Rebooted the system and the BIOS boot options now display Windows 7 and Windows 2012 R2 (recovered) but when I chose Windows 2012, I still get the error message
   
   

I have perused the SevenForums as well as other entries from the web but I cannot find submissions that mirror the actions I have taken. I am a novice at configuring system parameters and BIOS so I've been hesitant to execute some of the options found on the web. Finally, can this be corrected, or do I need to re-install Windows 7 on my primary drive, then reconnect the secondary drive, and reboot the system?

Hi NTKM,
As thats the primary loading file, where did you get the install media?
You may have an option within Bios to load unsigned drivers, but not in this case, sounds like its either corrupted or non-genuine.

Hi Roy,

Thank you for the response. All three Operating Systems are genuine MS products with keys.
In the original environment, I could select either Win 7 or Win 2008 Server and each would run without error.
In the new environment, I can successfully boot the Windows 2012 Server *if* I shutdown, disconnect the Win 7 drive, then boot up.
If the boot loader is corrupted, is there a process by which I can correct it, or do I need to re-install Win 7 on my primary SSD drive in order to recreate the file, and then reconnect the secondary drive and have that Operating System added to the boot loader/boot manager file when the OS is detected?
