Same situation here, I simply have to physically re-size any and all previously adjusted panes. I wish I knew a default way.

    Merge the attached reg file.

    It contains this code:
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Modules\GlobalSettings\Sizer]
By default, the key named Sizer does not exist. Once the navigator window width has been changed, the key named Sizer is created along with a value named PageSpaceControlSizer. The binary data stored in PageSpaceControlSizer sets a user defined width for explorer's nav pane.

If your goal is to have explorer's nav pane at its default width, then remove the key named Sizer. (Merging the reg file attached to this post will remove the key named Sizer.)

If your goal is to save a particular width for explorer's nav pane, then export the key named Sizer and merge that saved reg file to restore a given width.

As noted above, this is a per user setting.
