ASUS E403S downgrade to Windows 7 from 10. How. Please HELP

hi, I bought ASUS E403S with Windows 10 preinstaled. Storage is 32GB eMMC , and windows 10 uses all off that, for my is disaster. I try install windows 7, or locate hard drive to change it to some 64GB drive, but even in inside this laptop everything is luck different, compare with my old ASUS Eee PC notebook. Even BIOS is very different compare to old ones. I have no clue how to configure it. If any body can help my install Windows 7, about BIOS configuration or how lucks 32GB eMMC drive, please. I presiate it. Thanks

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Firstly I would recommend if you're serious about attempting to install windows 7 to do it on a new ssd or hdd and save the original incase you have issues or simply change your mind.

Inside win-10 you need to disable Fast startup features first to have half a chance

The rest is up to your bios which I would ask ASUS if it's possible but that is always a laundry list to fill out just to accomplish that small chore :)

Rufus can be used to make a uefi support usb installer
Problem might be legacy usb is disabled in the bios
You'd also have to see if CSM is listed
Fast startup and secure boot would also have to be disabled.

If you have a dvd burner and dvd with win-7 on it might make things easier I hear :/

There are a few manufacturers selling this type of low spec device for basic web browsing - I had a client with a Dell model a week or so ago and the only way to upgrade was to add an 32GB SD Card or USB stick which gave a little wiggle room for Data storage.

One major problem in trying to install windows 7 is that a lot of the hardware will not have any drivers for other than whatever OS it's loaded with at the factory. The Dell unit I looked at did not even have the internal connectors for a conventional Hard disk, it used Solid State chips soldered to the motherboard

I personally look at these devices as a sort of Tablet that folds in the middle and their upgrade possibilities are very limited, more of a tablet than a laptop

I know that the client paid £149.99 for their Dell whereas I would expect to pay nearer £299 for a basic laptop and near £399 for something reasonable

Mike, I can still see the look of disappointment on the client's face when I explained the limitations of what she'd bought, though for her usage and when the 32GB USB stick in place it works - just

Yep I believe you for a while I pondered the low memory of the new surfaces :)
i7's and I believe they have a i5 model but wow the prices really vary by memory and even the 32gb models are pretty high dollar

These model that the OP has spec'd to a price whereas most devices are priced to a spec

    ASUS E403S

    • Windows 10 (pre-installed)
    • Intel® Pentium® Processor N3700
    • Memory: 2 GB
    • Storage: 32 GB eMMC
    • Up to 14 hours battery life

I Haven't run windows on 2GB since vista days

It also has a massive 14" screen (1368 pixels I think)

It's actually less of a spec than my phone but then again it's half the price

Thanks guys for respond, lucks like I did mistake and waste 400 euros. This laptop is useless for my. I can't even install "Adode Dreamwiever" not enough space on disc. Windows 10 takes all 28GB of my drive. Very sad. Anyway, if any ideas how install Windows 7 or Linux, please... Now this laptop for my just rubbish, useless.
