If the dvd is x86, then you are only getting x86. As an aside, download over ethernet so you won't get CRC errors, which may happen over wireless.

MSDNAA should have both x86 and x64. I got my Professional x64 version through MSDNAA and there was also an x86 version I could have got.

But did you only get one version from the download?

Yea, they were both seperate downloads i.e. downloading the x64 version only gave me x64.

    Hi insane247,

Yes, all editions are available in both x86 and x64, except Starter. I'm not completely sure on what you're asking otherwise. If your cpu is 64 bit capable, which is probably is, you would be able to install either x86, or x64 Windows. Filling out your system specs would be helpful for any future questions.

what im trying to ask is whether Windows 7 Professional (x86) - DVD (English) has ONLY 32 bit support, or does it come with both 32 and 64 bit despite it being professional edition

my schools MSDNAA site only has x86 dvd download.
    i updated my specs

No, you either get 32bit or 64bit, in the DL...it's interesting that you only have access to the x86 version, as I downloaded BOTH (x64 and x86) from MSDNAA...

Read the .iso name you're downloading. If it just has en_windows_7_professional_x86_dvd, then it's just x86 that you're downloading and won't have an option to install x64.

If you're downloading x86, and that's the only version that's available to you thru your school's MSDNAA site, then that's what you're getting, 32 bit. Your download won't contain both 32 and 64 bit images.
