Is There A Way To Increase Speed Of Text Cursor/Caret?

When I hold down right in Notepad, the caret has a top speed that it will move at. Is there any way to increase this speed?

You might be able to increase the repeat speed at least a little more in the keyboard properties.

I can not find a 3rd party program to make it faster, are you trying to get through lines faster, because page up and down will do that much faster then the arrow keys will.

I spend a lot of time in a few different text programs/IDEs. It drives me nuts how slow the caret moves from right to left. I'm extremely proficient with keyboard shortcuts though so I'm probably maxed out on potential keyboard movement efficiency . Thank you for confirming my suspicion. It seems like a Windows setting you could logically modify somehow but I guess it never got the love it deserved .

Until a way is found to increase the speed through a system setting, you may have to get used to using an extra key with the arrow key, see how using the Control [Ctrl] key along with the right arrow key feels to you; What this will do is move the cursor one word at a time instead of a space. If you hold the right arrow key down the cursor will move faster until you release the key.

The Control+Arrow key functions can be found near the top of this link in the General section: Windows 7 Keyboard Shortcuts

This link can be found at the bottom of the shortcut list, it offers a plethora of shortcuts for different programs, use the alphabetized List Filter of names or vendors at the top: shortcutmania.com keyboard shortcuts

Holy cow, what a difference! I can't believe I didn't know about this shortcut. This is something that have wished I could improve for a very long time. Thank you very much Anak
