How do I remove files from Wordpad and Windows Movie Maker list?

Hello. I have lurked these boards for months, since the Windows 10 fiasco (I took the advice of the users on these boards, but ultimately checking oh so often for bad updates took up too much of my time, so I took my Windows 7 offline and set up a dual boot with GNU/Linux Lubuntu. I am on Lubuntu as I type this, although my question here is about Windows 7).

Anyhow, with Notepad, Paint, etc. it is easy, as there is a slide-out menu which lets me delete things, but with Wordpad and Windows Movie Maker (the original Windows Movie Maker, not the Live version) I can't find a way.

Is there a file I can edit to remove the filenames or something?

I'd really like to delete those pesky filenames off of those lists.

Hello Tharthan, and welcome to Seven Forums. :)

It sounds like you may be talking about Jump Lists. If so, then using the tutorial below to reset and clear them should help.

Thanks, Brink! But actually, this tutorial is more what I needed.

I think something similar to what is done in that tutorial could be done for Windows Movie Maker, but I'm not certain. There is probably a registry edit which can be made. I'll see if I can figure it out. I'm not good with the registry, though.

EDIT: I found it and deleted the keys!

    Thanks again, Brink!
