File Moved To Desktop Not Showing

I moved two mp3 files to the desktop and neither one is showing on the desktop GUI. However, when I go into Win Explorer (desktop folder) both files are there. I have "show all files" checked.
    Any help appreciated.

Yes. All the older desktop folders and files show the same.
It's just when I try to add new ones.

Quick question. Do you have a large amount of icons on your desktop? If you have too many icons/files on your desktop, they will not all show but will be in the desktop folder. If that is not the case, I will keep picking my brain.

What I've done to solve the above was to create desktop folders and then moved icons [shortcuts] into the designated desktop folders. I have 24-27 desktop folders and 23 icons [shortcuts] on each of my three computers.

I have 17 desktop folders and one shortcut. Doesn't seem excessive to me.
Not just the mp3 files but, any file. Strange windoze behavior.
