    No AppData

There is no AppData in Users/Ellen or Users/Public. I think this is why I can't download/install many things. As always, your help will be much appreciated. ellenc

It's hidden. If you really need to see that folder, go Control Panel, Folder Options, View tab, and check 'show hidden files, folders, drives'. Then switch back to normal.

Windows hides stuff for a reason.

Thanks ever so much for reminding me of hidden folders. There it is, AppData is back! I was getting frustrated trying to find AD. I'll remember your reply the next time I can't find something. ellenc P. S. I think Windows does lots of mysterious, weird things for a reason! The problem is: what is the reason?

The reason is usually to protect important things from a user that may not realize the importance or trouble they might get into messing around in there.

I like this little context menu add on for viewing them when needed,

Show - Hide Hidden Files - Add to Context Menu

Thank you so much. This is great! I've bookmarked it and will study it as something worthwhile to learn. Appreciate your sharing this info with me. ellen
