    Readyboost help

Hey, can one of you guys running the 32 bit 7022 build tell me if there is a service (services.msc from the start menu search) called readyboost or similar? I can't seem to enable my usb flash drive and it was fine in build 7000. When I boot to safe mode, I see rdyboost.dll load so I know it's on the system.

Is there something you have to do to enable it?

    Thanks.

I'm having the same problem too, have you tried restarting superfetch in services.msc?

I am having problem with this in 7600 rtm - not working - i get the "this device cannot be used for ReadyBoost" error. I have a sandisk 8GB Cruzer 2.0 Flash Drive plugged into what is definiely a 2.0 usb slot in the back of my pc.
I had found this fix for vista, but the registry for mine does not read like this - HERE

i set it to 2, but there is nowhere to change read and write speeds to 1000KBs like in the link.
Does anyone know hot to overwrite this in the registry like the vista fix. If so I thanks you in advance.

This "fix" serves no purpose. What Windows is telling you is the your flash drive is too slow to be useful.

The speed of the flash memory is not constant across the entire drive. The drive is "front loaded" (if you will) with a small area of fast memory and the remainder of the drive is slow memory.

Even if you could bypass Windows integrity, you would reduce the repsonsiveness of your machine. Not all tweaks, and not all tweak guides, are valid.

ok, but then why or how are other people using the same flash drive without problem? ReadyBoost - Buy Vista Ready Boost Compatible USB Drive Pen Memory mine is at top WTF - lol
1st a pny that said it was for ready boost did not work - "I'm not alone on that one" and now sandisk

I guess with 3GB of RAM I dont really need it and as I understand it I wont notice much at all, but i still wanted to give it a go.

Well, it's possible - in fact nearly guaranteed - that manufacturers are not consistent across entire flash drive ranges. Yours clearly isn't fast enough for one reason or another.

But you are also correct in your other assumptions - Readyboost will gain you NOTHING other than a USB key sticking out of your machine asking to be broken off.
