Help! How do I stop Windows 10 being installed against my wishes?

Hi. This is urgent. When I started my pc this morning, instead of the usual Windows 10 upgrade offer, which I always decline, there was no decline option. When I clicked on close, a message appeared to say Windows 10 installation would start in 15 minutes. there are a few minutes to go. When it starts I'll unplug my pc. What can I do apart from that? I'll access any replies from my partner's pc. I'd be really grateful for any advice as to how to eliminates this nuisance permanently.

    Ultimate Outsider

Start by downloading and installing the GWX control panel from the above link.

Read up on what it does at that site.

It's a pretty simple app. You can configure it in a minute or two. It will warn you of any attempts to install 10.

https://tweakhound.com/2015/11/01/re...n-windows-7-2/ - use BlockGWXetcV3_FULL.bat. It works perfectly. I recommend it highly.

Or, wait till the end of July 2016 - Microsoft will stop pushing Win10 on users at that time.

in the registry, HKLM\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\GWX create a key DisableGwx value type REG_DWORD with a value of 1.

does not allow GWX to run, which is what updates to Win 10. If you want it again, change the value to 0.

You take your own risk with changing the registry, but I made a GPO for this and have not had any problems since. And do a disk clean-up.

Hi everyone. Panic over. I clicked on the enable or disable Windows 7 link and chose option 1. I also disabled the GWX. It was all very straightforward. Thanks very much for all your help.
