Thanks for your reply. Will hide the update. Is there a way of blocking an update permanently? Is it possible that Windows may try to sneak the 10 update in another update with a completely different number?

Yes, they could just change the number.

I don't know of a sure fire way to prevent even being offered an update.

All you can do is use applications that are designed to help on the issue. Those apps say they will either warn you or actually prevent the installation of certain updates.

I wouldn't stake my life on any of them.

You can't hide anything where you are looking. All you can do is uninstall there.

"Hiding" is an attempt to refuse them before they can be installed, but it has only middling success.

You hide it at Windows Update itself. Go to your control panel. Poke Windows Update. It will open and offer you a bunch of updates, either criticial, important, recommended, optional, whatever.

Right click the ones you DON'T want and choose "hide" from the menu.

That will at least temporarily hide that update, but it might nonetheless be offered to you again---under the same number or a new number.

So be vigilant............................or not.

With Never10 registry entries created the "Get Windows 10" app will not run even though you've downloaded it again.

You should check Windows Update settings and configure like this:

That way "optional updates" (KB3035583 is currently optional) will not download and auto install.

Also to uninstall KB3035583 you can uninstall via Elevated Command Prompt.

How to Open an Elevated Command Prompt in Windows 7

Launch an Elevated Command Prompt and type:

Powershell

Press Enter. Wait for the PS Prompt to appear. Then type:

wusa /uninstall /kb:3035583 /quiet /norestart

Press Enter

I don't even bother hiding the GWX app anymore, it's been updated that many times that I just leave it in the optional section. Along with the 40 other recommended/optional updates I've found to be of little relevance to my systems. Hopefully it'll disappear out the list for good soon if MS does remove the update at the end of July.

Firstly these win-10 updates would not exist if you researched Recommended updates and more importantly Exclude them from being mixed up with real important updates by simply unchecking one box
Then you can simply ignore the Optional section altogether or at the very least research them first

Thanks. I have unchecked the recommended updates box as suggested. Do I still need to do anything with the the KN3035583 update that was installed yesterday, like hide it? Or should I just leave it to Never10?

I don't bother hiding it all it does is return
I personally just let it collect digital dust in the Optional section with 24 others I have not installed
No real reason to hide it or any updates for that matter.
