    How to tell which version of Windows 7 from looking at files


    My Lenovo SL510 crashed; Lenovo doesn't send recovery disks with the computer, and wants $45 for an operating system I already paid for- making it the last Lenovo I'll ever purchase. But I can download an ISO of Windows 7 [using this trick.](Download Official ISO's of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 legally and for free - TechFleece) Problem is, I don't know if my existing OS is 32- or 64-bit, nor which version of Windows 7 is on the old drive. Is there any way to tell without having a working system, such as by going through the types of file on the drive? I have a drive image.

    According to a review I found on the net, it has Win 7 Professional. It doesn't state which version, but safe bet its 64 bit OS.

    If you have two folders in the root directory (C: ) called
    Program Files
    Program Files (x86)
    Then it is 64 bit

    If you only have one folder called
    Program Files
    then it is 32 bit

    If you have a Microsoft sticker that looks like this it will tell you which Windows 7 the computer came with from the factory. This sticker should be on the bottom of the laptop or maybe in the battery compartment.
