Scroll bars getting corrupted
I don't know if this subject has been raised before. Apologies if it has.
I'm finding that the vertical scroll bar gets corrupted quite a lot. I can't remember how long ago I first noticed it. The effect is that the slider and arrowheads pick up elements from within the window. When I move the cursor over the slider and arrows they then correct themselves. Then when a window gets redrawn they are corrupted again. I've tried reinstalling the nVidia card driver from the original CD - I'm still using the original driver as I'm not a gamer and newer versions have issues with my video editing application. My gut feeling is that this is something within DirectX. My current version of that is DirectX11. This isn't a major issue - the scroll bars still work normally - but I'd really like to find out what's causing it. |

Hi,
Can you take a screen shot of the issue while they are corrupted Also if it's locally or just on websites and using which browser You can also post to a website it always happens on so we might test. |

Ok, I will try to get a screenshot. It isn't confined to the browser, it also happens with other applications.
Well, waddya know - it happened while posting this reply! See the top and bottom of the scroll bar (circled) have taken elements from the smilies. Sometimes the slider gets corrupted as well. Next time that happens I'll try to get another screenshot. |

Hi,
I'm going to guess and say you're using Chrome ? You do have a couple of interesting icons on the top right next to the settings icon on the top right. I'd look at your settings and Chrome Extensions for the extensions that are causing the issue. It seems more like a extensions features more than any corruption. |

Nope - I'm using Firefox, currently version 46.0.1. If you're referring to browser settings and extensions bear in mind I said it's not confined to the browser.
The icons you're referring to, I think, are Adblock Plus and DoNotTrackMe. I've been using those for long before this issue appeared. |

Ok, I hope this is what you wanted. For good measure I've also included the first few lines of the DxDiag report on the system and a new screenshot of how this page looked when I opened it from the link in the email. Notice the slider is also corrupted in this view.

I may have a play around with that at some point but as I said it's not a major issue. Having read the whole of that thread it is concerning that malware can be made so persistant.
I think it does no harm to perform a completely clean install of Windows every so often, maybe after 4 or 5 years, just to clear out a lot of redundant junk that's not being used any more and especially to start again with a clean, slimmed-down, registry. Then, starting with a basic system, just install additional stuff as and when I need it. I haven't done that since building this system around 5 years ago so maybe it's time to bite the bullet when I have a bit of time to spare. |

Creating scroll bars in powerpoint 2010 slide I've found a number of suggestions on how to create a scroll bar in a PPT slide but the only suggestion that seems to work doesn't.
