I would stick with the default Task Manager of Windows 7. There are new features of the Task Manager in Windows 8 that Windows 7 doesn't have.

I doubt Windows 8.1 Task Manager would run in Windows 7.For technical reasons Windows components of newer operating systems usually don't run in older systems.

You might be interested in DBC Task Manager. It is a free program designed to look and function much like that in Windows 8. It does not provide the full functionality of the Windows 8.1 Task Manager.

You might also check out Anvir TaskManager Free.

There's a portable version available and that's the one I use.

Here are a couple of programs I use:

System Explorer - Keep Your System Under Control System Explorer.

    https://bitsum.com/?inproduct

First 2 are completely free and system explorer shows a wealth of information. Process Lasso also has a free version and shows a ton of information. I really like system explorer. Can be set up to show memory use, battery life and what is using all your CPU cycles and at what percentage and much more. It is a true geek program as it provides so much information.
