    Preliminary Posting Problem

Concerns my wife's computer which was having Windows 7 update problems (new HDD & OS). I downloaded the SURT and it installed but now her computer is snapping off every 5mins so I can't do the
sfc /scannow. I'm posting from my own computer right now. So I'm unable to do any kind of testing from her unit. What to do?...and sorry about posting this here but the forum for windows update problems wants some technical stuff done before posting.

ClintGM referred me over to SevenForums from Macrium Reflect. Said you guys could do almost everthing dealing with Windows problems. So here I am. :)

A new Windows 7 install could take a day or more to search for and install updates, it`s totally normal.

What does snapping off every 5 minutes mean ?

    Who installed Windows 7 ?

Where did the install media come from ?

O.K., I understand about the time process.

By snapping: it's a quick 'pop' and the computer shuts down. When it first started happening it was 3-4 per day but today it increased to where every 5 mins. it is shutting down. Could it be the PSU is heating up and as a protective move it is shutting down?...preliminary steps of a failing PSU?

An eBay power seller sold both my wife and me our computers earlier this year. The OS was installed during the build at their facility in the States. I'm U.S. but currently living in Honduras. When her unit crashed (about 10 days ago) it ruined the SeaGate 1TB HDD. I had just bought Macrium Reflect and was in the actual process of doing the 1st imaging/backup when this happened. So it now has a loaner HDD from a Honduran tech until my new HDD and PSU (I think the cause of the failure was the PSU) are coming from the States. The tech put in the loaner and installed the Win7 Home Premium SP1.

So the above paragraph answers your last 2 questions. Sorry, it's going on 11:00pm here and my eyes are closing. Back at this tomorrow.

Good news is her computer only shut down twice today. I was able to do the sfc /scannow and there was nothing found. Now the shutting down. To me that indicates a possible PSU failing. I ran some tests from her unit and took snapshots of them. I'm more than happy to send the temp/voltage data along with the sfc /scannow. Question is: her account name is different (Annewman1) and I could not log into SevenForums using my username on her computer...so I setup her own. The snippets are of her system and they're saved in MyPictures. I can attach them from her computer thru her account but how can those be analyzed in this thread?
