You are not crazy, as i do follow according to your points 1 & 2 very closely.

Windows OS can be in any partition, not necessary in Disk 0.
As far as i know, when the partition which boot up the OS, it may also consider as C:\ not necessary in Disk 0 so long as the partition is mark Active, boot.
