Spell check not working on Windows 7

Hi everyone, just wondering if someone can help me, I have a Dell Optiplex 780 on Windows 7, I noticed before I went away on holiday that Spell Check had decided to pack in when I use emails or anything online it works great when writing letters picking up my spelling mistakes, so if anyone has any ideas of how to sort this out that would be great, I am really tempted to run it through a different type of Windows, but I don't think the housing company would be too pleased.

Hello Pink welcome,
as far as I am aware you need MS Office installed for spell check to work (it is a part of "Word") with in the Windows environment.
Is there Office installed ?
There are Free spell checkers available, just Google.

As MeOnMine has noted, you need a word processor to spell check in the win7 environment, win7 by itself has no native spell checker, that's why you notice no problems when you're writing a letter, but do when you're online i.e. writing emails or posting on a blog, social media or forum, be it IE, Firefox or Chrome the browsers native spell checker handles spell checking while online.

Perhaps you made some changes in your browser options before you went on holiday or a recent update to your browser caused the change? Your system specs show you're using the google browser more commonly known as Chrome, if that is the case see the instructions here:
Enable Chrome’s Native Spell-Checker

To enable or disable spell-checking, click the Chrome menu button in the top right on the browser toolbar. Select Settings and at the bottom click Show advanced settings. Scroll down to Languages and click the Language and input settings… button......

.....At the bottom of the Languages settings menu, you can check a box to Enable spell checking.

Please take note; These instructions are 3years old and several updates to chrome have passed since this came out, but they should still be close enough so that you would be able to follow them to check and see if that setting has been disabled.
