Removal of system icons from Desktop folder
Windows 7 Professional - 64bit
I am trying to remove some of the system icons from the Desktop folder. They have already been removed from the desktop, but still remain in the Desktop folder. Please do not tell me how to remove these icons from the desktop - that is not the question being asked!
To remove the icons from the Desktop folder, I've been using regedit. HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/Desktop/NameSpace/ contains a variety of entries which are related to various icons in the Desktop folder. For example, {031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5} is associated with the Libraries icon; deleting this entry will remove this icon from the Desktop folder.
I have gone through these entries and have removed a few more system icons where the registry NameSpace entry was obvious. Those that remain are not so obvious, and I don't want to just go and delete them all.
My question is:
Does anyone know which of these NameSpace entries are associated with:
- <user name> (System folder)
- Control Panel (System folder)
- Computer (System folder)
Thanks,
