Windows 7: Using task scheduler for a shop bell or alarm clock

Using task scheduler for a shop bell or alarm clock

I spend the better part of the day searching for a shop "break/lunch" timer. There weren't many ideas that really worked completely. The requirement is for a shop workplace start-break-lunch-end task that would be fully automatic/hands off. So this is my two cent offering for those of you to try and maybe elaborate on.

First I selected a wave file and set the default wav player to "NOT repeat". Placed this file in the root of C:\.
Then created a .bat file in the root of C:\. I picked this location for simplicity in this post. I'm using VLC as the media player.

.....Named the bat file and inserted this dialog.

start c:\bell.wav
timeout /t 5 /nobreak
taskkill /IM vlc.exe

In Task Scheduler, I created a task that triggers the .bat file you just created in C:\. With the exception of the trigger schedule, all the other answers can be default. Multiple triggers are available to install, as the part where multiple daily times can be set for one task. In otherwords the buzzer/bell .bat would have as many triggers as you need to ring the bell.

I'm going to set this up in a real world scenario and will return with my results.

Until then......

Does Windows 7 have something like this or...

Alarm Clock
I would like to find a good free download for an alarm clock, because the one that I used in the past (World Time by Pawprint) sets off the spyware/malware alarms on several of my security programs. Would anyone know of such a program, that they are confident that is is spyware/malware free?
Alarm Clock/App launcher
Looking for an alarm clock app that can launch a program. For example, I would like Pandora to launch as the alarm. Anything?
Alarm clock?
Is there a sort of alarm clock in Windows? I mean that sort of thing that I set e.g. to 3:15 pm and it goes off and displays a notice that reminds me of what I wanted to do at that time. I seem to remember that there was a thing like that in Win 95, but it was dropped in WinXP and I haven't...
