my laptop just suddenly turned off and the screen wont display anymore

Dear seven forums, please help me with my problem. I was working on something when my laptop, ACER just suddenly turned off. It was working for about 10mins or so but after that, it suddenly turned off. At the time it was working, i plugged a usb connector from my phone to the latop and an 8g flash drive.. i do this all the time since my phone, a samsung galaxy grand prime only has an 8g internal capacity and i only had a 1g sd card on it. I successfully transferred a video from.my phone to my flash drive but as i was scanning to check some more files to be transferred, poof! It suddenly turned off. As it was turning off, a box of a static-like image appeared decreasing in size to the center of the laptop then blacked out. Please help me with this worrying prob of mine. Thank u and looking forward to ur response..😊

When you hit the power button do you have any indication that the laptop turned on such as spinning fans? It sounds to me like the monitor crapped out. Do you have an external one that you can check? Laptops frequently have a hotkey for the monitor. Did you perhaps hit that? Try hitting it. If you don't know which key it is check your laptop's manual.

I've noticed that the 3rd indicator next to the battery's infidicator which looks like the one that indicates if its loading or what is usually lighted before this incident happend but now, it will just light for 3 secs or so then gone.. i dont know the hot key for this laptop and the manual is looong gone since i bought this 2 years ago in the philippines. I am now located in palau.. is there anything else i can do? Pls pls help.

You can google the model and see if there is a manual online however I suspect hardware failure. I suggest that you take it to a shop.

In most laptop, there are the lights in front.
Lights mainly on; Power, Battery, Wireless(if any), HDD, Card reader (if any).

    1. If you are using the battery, without the main power adapter, this is cause by battery cannot support, hence shutdown.

    2. If you are using battery in booting up, then want to connect the main power, it is running in battery, as it may shutdown.
As since using battery for booting, and main power connected, it may still using the battery instead of main power.
Hence the battery not enough to continue, it shutdown.

    3. All this is base on which power is connected and use to boot up.
Also sometimes, using battery and notice the battery going down, and if you add the main power it may still shutdown.
This is an idiot (me) forgot to switch on the main power.

Thank u for the suggestion townsbg, i will consider that. As for Eric3742, I dont think the shutdown is due to the power supply. I used the laptop's battery while turning it on and its fully loaded. I think so because when it shutdown, it didnt just suddenly shutdown as in, in seconds all black. it displayed a box shape, static-like display in the center of the screen. But thank you for your ideas.
