W7 Stability - Is it just me?
Hi
Having installed W7 on Both my desktop and laptop, I am left feeling, well to be honest, a little robbed.
I:
* Setup a Homegroup (V easy), initally no problems, then both PCs systematically hang. Requires a hard reset to get up and running again. No warning, no 'windows is trying to find a solution' dialog
* Installed logmein, and upon remote connection, desktop network card is disconnected. Very repeatable. Not useable at all. It does offer a windows diagnostic fix, which DOES work (adapter always requires resetting)
* Shared a harddrive on my desktop to get around the Homegroup issue. Initally worked ok (very slow transfer rate oddly), now, loses connection, and hangs the laptop. No warning, no 'windows is trying to find a solution' dialog
* Installed uTorrent, configured correctly (port forwarding etc). Continuously hangs explorer (although the network processes still 'seem' to continue in the background), requires hard reset. Cannot use. No warning, no 'windows is trying to find a solution' dialog
Now I understand this is a new OS release, and bugs have to still be ironed out, but this is ridiculous! The product is certainly not reliably useable
The problems certainly seem to be network related.
I am desperate to finds ways to turn off the offending areas, but having searched around here, cannot find anything. Is this IPv6 related? CAn I simply turn this off? Will it work? Some have mentioned ditching the Homegroup in favour of workgroup. How? Also saw some info about ensuring IPv6 is configured in my router. Cant find any reference to this in the Admin screens unfortunately.
Do Microsoft know of these issues? Do they have a resolution path?
Might be just me, not sure. Anyone else see these issues?
