    Desktop Short beeps while hibernating

    Helle sevenforums

This morning when i got Up to wake My pc from sleep/hibernate, the pc was beeping frequently. The Sound was similar to when i had a faulty stick of Ram, though when i poke the Mouse and click a few Times, the system wakes Up normally and everyting seems to be working Just fine.

What could be the cause og this beeping Sound?

    Hi,
    I'd imagine it's a ram/ memory issue
Are you using matched set 6gb's is an odd amount did you add 1.. stick to an existing stick or 2 ?

My specs Arent actually updated, i had 2+4gb of ddr3 RAM, but the 2gb stick died. I'm pretty sure it is single channel

Above you say you have two, 4gb sticks of ddr3, but the 2gb stick died? You need to rephrase that. What is your RAM?

    2+4, not 2*4
A 2gb stick and a 4gb stick, though the former died, so i am left with the 4gb

Did you remove the dead 2 gb stick? Did you try putting the 4gb stick in the other channel to see if your PC still beeps? Is the beeping in any kind of order? If so what, 3 shorts and a long etc.

I think I might have it. Go into your Control Panel, click on "Sound". It will open a window that has several tabs, one of which is "Sounds". You will see many events that you can be programmed to make a sound. One of those is causing your beeps. There is one at the very end of the list "Sleep". See if that is programmed to make a sound.
