Lost Customization On Start Button/Start Menu

My Start Button works to the extent that I can click it and browse all of my programs. I also have all of the categories on the right side like "Computer", "Control Panel", etc.

What I don't have are any of my recently used programs. That area is blank. I have noticed over the years that I typically use about the same 10-15 programs frequently and the loss of these "instant shortcuts" means I have to drill down through the hierarchy of Start Menu programs to find the one I want to launch. I do have a number of programs pinned to the Taskbar, but I'd really like to have my Start Button work like it used to.

    Any suggestions?

PS: The only one that does show up is the Command Prompt which I had copied from its default location because I use it so much. I had it located outside the "Programs" folder on the Start Menu so it would be at the top.

hi something simple you might want to check.
right click start button-properties then start menu tab and make sure both things are checked under privacy. also on same tab click on customize and make sure there is a number in start menu size

Thanks. Yes, they are both checked. I have also tried to reset it to "Default". None of that changes anything.

Yes! That seems to have done it. I had to do it for both Start Menus - Start Menu All Users and my "personal" one.

    Thank you!
