Windows 7 Home Premium is limited to 16 GB max.
Professional and Ultimate have higher limits---not sure what--maybe 128 GB?
Few people have a legitimate need for more than 16 or maybe even 8. You can easily track how much you are actually using at any given moment through Task Manager.
Hi,
Memory/ ram availability won't change by very much there is a hardware reserved that soaks up the rest of it and you're already at the maximum your mother board will support which is 4gb's.
So the only hardware upgrades for this board is adding a dual core Pentium D processor as I already posted and upgrading to a ssd = solid state drive.
Windows 32 bit can only recognize 3.25 GB of your 4GB of installed RAM. Windows 64 bit will see all 4 GB, but unless you are running software that can utilize 64 bit you won't see any improvement over the 32 bit OS. Stick with the 32 bit OS.
You state in post #1
Could you explain what is corrupted. Please be exact as possible.Should I install windows 7 64 bit on my PC? the specs are on my profile, I've had windows 7 32 bit for 1.5 years until it got corrupted and won't boot properly anymore
If need be or you just want to go 64 bit your cpu is capable.

Make sure you have a readable COA key to activate your system if you do decide to go with Windows 7 64 bit or a Clean Install/Repair Install of your 32 bit Windows 7.
With the hardware listed in your (My System Specs) I see little advantage using 64 bit.
In my opinion it is very unusual for a system with your specs to have Windows 7 Ultimate installed.
Could you tell us who installed it and where did it come from?
A new install with out the proper media and activation COA is a waste of time. On top of that it would not be a legal install.
I just installed 64 bit on my PC to see if I could use more then 3.25gb ram but it was still 3.25gb so I installed 32 bit back
It`s the motherboard and the system that controls that, Do not waste another dime on a Dell, start saving your pennies, nickels, quarters, Pesos, Crown, Krona (whatever you use over there :)) to build your own PC, in the meantime, start reading :)
