NOTE: If you run those .NET Framework tools leave 3.5 alone!

Okay surprisingly enough it's telling me there's a problem with 4.6.1 but I've also been busy downloading KB3179949 published today

    Microsoft Security Bulletin(s) for September 13, 2016

Downloaded and currently a reboot is required to complete installation so that might be why the red X is showing!

Anyway I can't really recommend the software used for checking.

See here for why that is:

What's a Good Program For Uninstalling Applications/Programs on PC?

It is possible to clean install it. (Tricky)

RE: NET Framework issues. I'm afraid that I don't really understand those errors. I do know that I've had .NET Framework issues on my own machine in the past and have always managed to fix using .NET Framework Cleanup Tool:
Check installed versions using this portable utility:
Actually it's been really hard to detect if there are existing problems. The only way I noticed it - I have an app installed that highlights problem software with a red X like this:

    It's fixed now
Previously had a red X like this. (Shows other problem program here)
    Attachment 391916

Then trying to uninstall the problem version of .NET Framework via Add/ Remove programs would fail!

oops.... sorry... you got me in a bit wrong way... not so common...

I don't have any problem with z installed .net applications.
it's just m$ .exe format installer glitch...

I've mentioned this another issue here just because it may be linked to explorer.exe process loop.... and fingerprint security software installed...

anyhow please wait for a while... I've just removed another couple of suspect apps...

now testing... it may take a day or so...

    thank you

Well if you've got the installer saved for that fingerprint app just try uninstalling it.

RE: m$ .exe format installer glitch.

Maybe try looking at Windows Installer Cleanup

If you check the list and know that you've uninstalled an app that still shows up - that's when to use it.

If you have a system image backup you could try this fix (and the one listed below it)

Anyway I'm going to be busy. NET Framework 4.6.1 is still a problem even after a reboot.

That app I mentioned still shows that there's a problem. It's not detectable any other way except via trying to uninstall.

    1. KB3179949 naturally isn't offered in my case when z latest .net 4.6.2 installed!

    2. wow. interesting. there were total 4 optional updates offered today (and installed),
and both explorer.exe & shell32.dll files' versions updated. so let me check around...

    3. I don't use Advanced Uninstaller Pro but Revo Uninstaller Pro z latest paid version.
but, frankly speaking, I don't like uninstallers in general, so use of Revo only for some particular cases...

yep, z Windows Installer Cleanup is a good utility. and it's installed in my case... but there is no any visible problems with .net installers.

RE: Revo Pro. Yes it's good. I only mentioned the other app because it flags problems that nothing else seems to pick up. I still don't recommend it except for advanced users who can clean install it.

I've just done a full removal and reinstall of NET Framework 4.6.1 and am currently installing the updates. Seems okay so far.

RE: .NET Framework issues. I notice that if running the offline installer setup files are unpacked to the drive with the most space. Just wondering if free space is an issue?

I really know nothing about this fingerprint app and don't have a DELL machine. Last one I used had XP installed.

If you kept your UVK Scan log did it show anything for the app under "Image hijacks and Global context menus" ?

That ShellExView program doesn't pick everything up.

Would like to attempt to disable the shell extension to test and see if it resolves the issue.

Another app worth a try: AutoRuns

Right click and "Run as administrator"

Watch the bottom of the window and wait for the scan to complete. When finished check the "Explorer" tab and see what shows up.
