Well also there's this one that says Coprocessor and it says this
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0543&SUBSYS_30CF103C&REV_A2
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0543&SUBSYS_30CF103C
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0543&CC_0B4000
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0543&CC_0B40

    Lol if i had known this would cause so much trouble i would have never installed 7, but i'm glad you're helping me! :}

Whether you are wanting to believe me or not...your issues are not related to the Windows 7 Operating System...they are a fault of your manufacture

Your manufacture should be responsible for making and publishing drivers for their hardware for a new OS...in your case it appears that is not happening. Be glad that Microsoft provided a way for folks to overcome (not 100% though) this liability with Compatibility Mode. To make it clear...it is because of how 7 works with Vista and the older XP that you are able to get these drivers installed

Just figured I would let you know...anyhow let me find the driver for that Co-Processor which I believe is the fingerprint reader

Looks like it is a Coprocessor device made by NVIDIA...which means it may be the chipset

    Try to install this

NVIDIA nForce Chipset Driver HP Pavilion dv6500 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (Australia - English)

    Also in Vista compatibility mode

Thank you so much again!, i found out why it wasn't letting me run it in compatibility mode, it was saving it with other extension rather than .exe
I'll restart my computer and then i'll see if everything is fixed thank you so much FOR EVERYTHING!

Not a problem...I rather enjoy solving driver issues as I consider them the most frustrating PC issue you can encounter

    Hi,
many thanks for this thread, the solutions still work.
I just upgraded my daughters HP DV9820 to windows 7 Ultimate x64 and had exactly the same problems.
could not find any way to update Base System Device or Coprocessor. Searched windows update catalog and no luck. Did a web search with the PCI\VEN numbers and found this thread.
    No yellow warning triangles left.
    Thanks again

    Hi,
Not sure if this thread is still active, but i was having issues w/ the drivers mentioned in this thread and followed Zidane24's solutions to get the drivers.

However, im still having issues w/ my cd drive not being recognized. When i try to update driver it says 'drivers are up to date' .. i also saw a solution that required me to delete 'upperfilters' and 'lowerfilters' for the device from the registry. Tried that but the filters weren't there. So that solution went bust.

I was wondering if someone can help me locate the drivers. Here are the Hardware ID details:

    IDE\CdRomHD-DT%ST_DVDRAE_GSA-T20N________________WC05____
    IDE\HD-DT%ST_DVDRAE_GSA-T20N________________WC05____
    IDE\CdRomHD-DT%ST_DVDRAE_GSA-T20N________________
    HD-DT%ST_DVDRAE_GSA-T20N________________WC05____
    GenCdRom

Thanks a lot in advance for all your help.
