Ok mate now there is always the possibility of the hard drive getting a bit on the old side too and after checking the temps maybe it is worth running this SeaTools for Windows | Seagate on the drive if we can keep it running long enough this is the knowledeg base for using it How to use SeaTools for Windows .

I am not sure whether or not you can run Seatools from a stick and only in safe mode I will research that a bit in the meantime.

Now assuming that the hard drive is going south then have you backed up all your data to an external or suchlike?? If not then I have a little ditty that you can use to retrieve the data using Ubuntu boot disk and it does not involve Windows so will not be affected by any problems within the OS so let us know if you have any important data backed up somehow.

Ok well that doesn't mean the drive has not gone bad it is four years old and when you added the extra RAM did you install a stick of the same brand and specs?? because it is always good idea to get the RAM as closely specified as possible to avoid any conflicts between the sticks.

In all honesty I had been doing it I would have put a single stick of 4GB in it would have also increased the performance of the machine even though the 32bit can run with 3GB the 4GB gives more "breathing space" so to speak.

Those temps have you measured them yet because shutting down after a specified time smacks of the temp on the CPU building up until the thermal cutout is activated ?

Now in safe mode can you run these please
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2 > in safe mode if need be

SFC usually best run for three scans

I have successfully running SeaTools for Windows | Seagate in normal mode. no issue found. but it took more than 4 hours for all test. Here i noticed one thing and that was astonished me that during this 4 hour in normal mode my laptop not getting stuck or freezes. Could you please tell me now what can i do?

So I have this correct the test did not provoke any crashes - has that done anything at all when running the machine now because it may have been something within the test that has corrected something that I cannot say for sure is.

Now the RAM have yu checked out how close the specs on the sticks are?? and what about those temps please.
Now you can check the RAM specs with this just use PART B: and see my pics to know where to look.

    Using HW Info
    PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. Now the section you want will be labelled - fpr example Asus boards usually have "Nuvoton" and Gigabyte boards "ITE" in any case the section you want will have Vbatt or VBAT in it (dead give away)
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
    FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
    PART B:
Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.
As I said just use PART B: after you have closed those start up windows
