Windows 7: Error 0x80070079 SD card semaphore period timeout

Win7 Pro 32 bit
Error 0x80070079 SD card semaphore period timeout

So I did a search and found nothing definitive regarding this particular error in my application.

I have a Dell laptop with an i7 processor, an SSD drive and 8g of ram, running Win7 Pro 64 bit.

I put a 128G micro sd card into the sd card adapter and slapped into the slot. When I try to move files to the card, I get the error.

I formatted the card just for grins. It won't format NTFS, but it did format exFat @ default allocation unit size.

It doesn't seem to matter what size the files are that I'm trying to drop on the card. Large or small, it doesn't work. I have no firewall or AV running.

I've scanned thru posts from the past on the topic that didn't shed any light on my situation here.

If I try to slap this micro SD card into an adapter and plug it into a usb port and try to write to it that way, I get the same results.

Donno what to do from here. Any help would be appreciated.
