Win7 search files in exploer runs before criteria all entered

Searching for a file is very fundamental and important, yet win7 and MS have messed up.

Search facility starts searching before I even end my typing, how do we get it to start after the criteria are entered ?

WinXP had a start search button, but win7 runs off, then as you are ading criteria it gets messed up, so much that when you have added dates, nothing is happening, I have to end the search red icon then click on drive or foler etc and select the criteria from the drop down box, then it starts again. Who thought this one up, for prior to win7 it was fine.

How do we get back to normality ?

See if this will make things a little better.

Type completely want you want to search in Notepad.
Copy/Paste in the search bar in Windows Explorer.

As far as I know Windows Explorer in Windows 7 has always searched in the fashion. I don't know why it does or how to change it's methods.

I find that Win 7 does the same thing for me, but it will re-initialize the search and search properly if I press enter after the search terms.

I agree that it's annoying to have Windows just start searching on a half entered search term, but for me, at least, pressing enter seems to solve the issue.
