Start Button - remove program name from list

I click the start button. A list of installed programs appears. I right click any program name and then
    click Remove from this List.
Nothing happens - the list stays the same.
Does anyone have a solution to this ? Thanks for your time.

    Later ....

Seems to be a Win 7 bug. The only workaround is to delete the apps
and then reinstall omitting the add to start menu options.

    Hi,
I assume the first list you're referring to is the pinned to start menu at the very top
I personally haven't seen any issues adding or removing anything just did on a non pinned item cpu-z worked as expected :/

    Use Clean boot,
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Click Start and type in the search box,
    msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
    Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
    Cheers.

Try unpin from start menu, not remove from this list.

Unpin for sure. That is the way that works for me.

    Hi

Click on the start button, there is 2 panels.

Move your mouse to the right side of the panel, and at an empty space, right-click "Properties".

Below the Start Button tab, there is this privacy.
    Read it.

Clear any checked mark on both.

    That's all.
