Windows freezes at startup after replacing CMOS battery. Pls Help

    Hey guys,

A few days back my date and time got reset so I thought my CMOS battery had run out. so I replaced it with another one. but when I tried to boot up,it gave me two options-launch startup repair and start windows normally. if I choose launch startup repair, it says loading files and then it freezes. if I try to start windows normally it says starting windows and the windows logo comes up but it sops there and keeps on showing me that logo. If I try to boot up in safe mode it says loading files and freezes there. what could the problem be?

And please excuse any mistakes that i may have made. This is my first time posting on a forum.

CMOS battery doesn't supply power only for the clock. It also holds the BIOS settings.
When you replaced the battery, you cleared the BIOS settings and then set to defaults.
This defaults probably aren't the same you had before and probably aren't compatible to the hardware you have.
You must enter BIOS and set it properly. If you never done BIOS settings, ask someone who is familiar to BIOS settings.
If you try to fix and boot with the wrong settings you can loose your data on disk.

    Welcome to Win7forum

Did you try to put back the original CMOS battery.

Also the coin battery type is important, as some look similar.

If not correct, it may cause these thing to happen.

Whenever you change this CMOS battery, you need to check and confirm all the setting in the BIOS are in order.
