Taskbar not hiding when some programs are in full screen mode

When i switch in full screen mode programs like Firefox, for example, the taskbar is hiding, but when i switch in full screen mode programs like MS Word or Open Office the taskbar is not hiding. Any idea why this is happening?

This guide is about how to start a program in maximized mode, not about full screen mode. And i don't think the problem is with the programs because if i start ms word in full screen, for example, the programs goes in full screen but somehow goes under the taskbar or more correctly the taskbar refuse to hide.

This is about when taskbar is set to auto hide and mine is not set to auto hide. And i don't think the notifications are the problem becasue with some programs in full screen mode, like firefox, it is hiding completely but with ms word it stay visible.

I am a bit confused here, so could you please explain exactly what you want the Task Bar to do.

In your later Posts you say the Task Bar is not hiding in MS Word, then you say the Task bar is not set to Auto Hide.

If it's not set to Auto Hide it will not auto hide. If you want the Task Bar visible all the time, right click on the Task Bar & select Lock the Task Bar. That will make the Task Bar available all the time.

Yes me too now Peter if it is set to auto hide then it should do it with everything, and I am wondering if it is some setting in FF ??

Just out of curiosity why do you want it hidden with everything because personally I like it there to access other taskbar icons - and you can always set the icons to minimum - would that not be so bad??.

My understanding is that the taskbar should hide even if it is not set to auto hide. At least, that is happening with Firefox when i press F11, and the taskbar is not set to auto hide; it works also for Internet Explorer. But for MS Word if i press ALT+V then U, which is the shortcut for full screen, the taskbar stays visible.

I like some program in full screen, like ms word, so i don't get distracted when writing.
