Hi:
Thank you for the information.
As previously mentioned, we lack sufficient data to make specific recommendations.
IFFF the problem is a failing hard drive, then time is of the essence to backup data to an external USB hard drive or other safe location, lest the drive fail completely and the data be lost (or at least very hard and expensive to recover).
But we simply do not know.
The only generic, shot-in-the-dark suggestions I have based on the available data would be:
- Create a system restore point and consider backing up the registry, e.g. with ERUNT
- Chkdsk with the /r switch -- see HERE for instructions
- SFC /scannow -- see HERE for instructions
- Windows disk cleanup -- see HERE for instructions
- A good temp file (NOT registry!) cleaner, such as CCleaner or TFC
- Perhaps running a specialized tool to check your hard drive health
- Additional tools would depend on the data we do not yet have
- Alternatively, since this is a BUSINESS and critical data may be at stake, you might want to take the computer to a local brick and mortar computer repair shop.
Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
MM
