Windows 7 - Explorer Window Save As/Browse address bar disable

I need to know of a way to prevent the address bar from showinganything in the Browse or Save as screens. (the dropdown address bar) I havehad no luck with Group Policies in Windows 7. This islaunching within a program we use as our library automation software. I am trying to do this on for the Workerprofile only if possible. I was able to do this under Windows XP and have use the same settings but with no luck.

I have group policies in place, but it still brings up everything from the address bar and allows access tomy server. This is on a peer to peernetwork with a computer dedicated as the “server”.The software runs off a netsetup process fromthe “server” and does require that the folder be shared. The company at this time does not have anysolutions.

This is a prison setting and offenders need to be locked outof this function.

Thank you in advance for any assistance. I apologize if I am not explaining this very well. I am a librarian not a programmer and I am outof my depth with this.

Welcome to the forum I think this is what you want but you dont say which version of the browser?

You can hide the address bar in the registry.

Open regedit and create the following keys:

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ToolBars\Restrictions
    • Under Restrictions Key create a DWORD registry with the name NoNavBar and a value of 1
    • Logoff or reboot and the Address Bar is gone. To enable it again change the value to 0 or remove the key.

Thanks you but it isn't an IE issue, or at least I don't see how it can be. We do not have internet access for the offenders. This is within the Windows Explorer Browse/save as Screen. I wish I could post a picture. Inside the program we use, there is a function that allows you to add a patron picture, (we don't use this), but there is a browse button, that brings up the standard navigation screen, at the top there is the address bar with the arrow pull down which then brings up the server. Again I apologize that I am having trouble explaining this.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit, it that helps.
