Try this. After uninstalling it "normally", go to the registry and drill down to HKEY_CURRENT USER\SOFTWARE\ and find this entry :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\SpybotPostWindows10UpgradeReInstall and delete it. That should take care of your problem.

If you have any more Win10 questions I suggest you head over to Windows 10 Forums our Sister site. A lot of good help there!

    Hope this helps.

    Hi:

Agree with those who suggest dumping it.
It's no longer highly regarded in most security circles.
There are far better anti-malware offerings and far better "custom" hosts file offerings these days*.

(*The very fact that you're having trouble removing it pretty much proves that point.)

    But, to each, his/her own.

    Cheers!

    Hi,
I suppose I should of said Edge browser ignores the host file so if you're having issue using other browsers open Edge and see what happens :)

LadyF, for years I agreed with you! :) I really enjoyed using Spbot S&D 1.62 and version 2! However, I have SpywareBlaster now handling the host file operations and all is very well! Spybot has lost a little bit of its cutting edge the last few years -- according to scuttlebutt across The 'Net.
