You can always hook up a usb mouse to your laptop.
I hate laptops so whenever I work on one I hook up an external keyboard and mouse.
and a mouse can go with you anywhere :)
Just keep feeding him

Have you check the bottom of your laptop to check for any spec, model, windows product key, etc.
Laptop info usually located on the bottom.
Edit:
I usually prefer external USB mouse, more for convenience and hands movement.
Laptop scroll can used by Keys on the right side, PGUP page up; PGDN page down, or arrows keys.
Some laptop have a unique small (pencil) rubber middle of the keyboard for using as mouse movements.
