I want to shift+scrollwheel to scroll horizontally in Windows Explorer
Hi there. As a veteran of Windows 7, an eternal battle I struggle with is that Windows Explorer does not seem to have any shortcut key to scroll horizontally in Details view. Is there any sort of registry tweak, workaround, or even autohotkey script, or anything at all that can avail me in this struggle?
Every other modern, sensible, half decent program has some functionality like shift+scrollwheel to scroll horizontally.
Based on reading other threads on this topic from a Google search, I anticipate that there might be some confusion about what I'm referring to, so let me preemptively clarify a bit:
Horizontal scrolling works fine in List view and Icons view. This is because those views do not have a vertical scroll bar, so vertical mousewheel scrolls are interpreted as horizontal scrolls. I want horizontal scrolling for Details view when there is both a horizontal and vertical scrollbar. If you don't believe me, set Explorer to Details view, make the window small enough so both scrollbars appear, and then try your darndest to scroll horizontally without clicking the scrollbar. You won't be able to.
Let me also make clear, again based on a common misunderstanding I found from respondents to similar threads in other forums asking about this: I am exclusively talking about Windows Explorer. Not Excel or Internet Explorer or Chrome or anything else.
Any suggestions are very much appreciated.
