how to get a Win 7 Pro ISO with only hp product number

    Hello!
I have an HP elitebook 8460p for which I have a product number for Win 7 Pro, but I would like to be able to download the OS in ISO form to perform a clean installation. For that I need 25 numbers from the OS DVD and the product number does not fill the requirement.
How do I do considering that the machine is out of warranty and I have a OEM recovery DVD though it seems to give me problems.

A retail disk wont work with a OEM license.
Download a MS down loader tool from Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool.
Download the tool, run it, and under Win 7, choose Win 7 Pro OEM.
Burn a DVD or install it on a USB Flash disk with Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way
Do a Clean install Clean Install Windows 7
Use the COA key to activate.
For the updates MS releases SP2 for Windows 7

@Desperate 4, you don`t get your key from the dvd, you get it from your COA

    Hi Desperate,
the COA could be hiding in the battery compartment.

Going back to your first post got the OS DVD, but the code does not work.
Lappy's dont tend to have os discs for re-installation, so those discs will not be for it
They do however have a recovery partition, have you tried the factory reset option.

By the way doesn't matter if its not the OEM version, the standard W7 pro iso will also work

Run Belarc Advisor to get the product key of your existing 7 installation. Use that same key for the clean install.

To all individuals that gave me the head's UP on ISO, I am most grateful for your help, I did though, re-installed the OS with the recovery HP disc after backing up all the "goodies " that I was interest on. I did not download any software or firmware from HP or Anti-Virus until all updates from MS were installed including MS essentials. Even the optional updates were installed afterthe important ones. At what I thought was the end, had no failed installs.
It all went good, as I had not had such a pleasure before. I was very happy:) (I believe you guys somehow have experienced this feeling before). As soon as third parties' soft and firmware went in, WU went back to "piss" me off again. Nevertheless, it became easier to install updates direct from MS site because there were no errors to deal with anymore.
Hope with this story I have helped other people also to resolve any errors that WIN 7 throws at them. Have no mercy
    Mate...thanking you once again.

Do reply #2 in this thread to have windows update working properly again.

Windows Update will not update and I've tried multiple fixes

You do not have to install every update offers, only the security ones, after that you have to examine each and every optional/recommended update to see if you even want or need it.

Just highlite the update then click More Information over on the right side of the window.

If you do not want the update, then just right click on it and hide it.

Here is my list of updates to hide. And this has been done on 3 recent installs. And the System File check is perfect.
