    cmd.exe error 0xc0000142

This error started occurring after my computer was infected with a virus and Avast removed it. I've tried system restore to a point before my files became infected but the same error comes up, and I'm unable to perform "sfc /scannow" because of the error

Welcome to the forum. Can you run cmd as admin? try creating a new admin account and login with that as it may just be the profile thats corrupt a disk check for errors is worth trying

    Hi Aura,
please run this tool, copy/paste the output
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=52012

if it comes back clean i will post a link for
W7 sp1 x64 oem which you can download and burn, to perform, a repair/clean install
AS you have been infected i suggest a clean install,
but prior to install copy your personal data to a usb, scan it before you re-install.

    Hi Aura,
looks like avast also borked your activation, it seems to have gone overboard with what its quarentined.

    No matter
is your system showing as non-genuine it wouldn't surprise me! and stopping SFC
(which would be incorrect from what i can see)

before we go the long way
    can you install this KB
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=152411

    REBOOT

rerun the first tool and the file mismatchs should be gone and the system registered

    then try SFC.

Will post the link lunchtime tomorrow, it will only be valid for 24hrs,

    Roy
