Win 7 64 bit : Restart computer, type text, windows freezes

After a fresh boot, when i try typing some text, windows will freeze for a few minutes. I can move my mouse cursor around, but clicking anything has no response and the text i am trying to type does not appear. After a few minutes, windows will unfreeze and everything works normally.

The text can be anywhere, in the start menu search bar, in notepad, wherever. Event viewer shows no error messages for this period.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Hi, do you have Microsoft driver update turned on I.E. has updates installed a new driver lately.
Try restore back to a date that it did not happen.
I assume that a "Fresh Boot" is not a "Fresh Install" of Windows ?

Is it just typing? What happens if you try to launch an appliucation? Does it launch immediately or there is also a delay?

Is Win updates running without issues?
How big is your disk free space?
    Run disk clean up. %windir%\system32\cleanmgr.exe
Delete old files and folders under C:\Windows\Temp (some are in use - skip)
Delete old files and folders under C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download.
Delete all files under \Users\<name>\AppData\Local\Temp (some are in use - skip)

Fresh boot meaning i restart the computer. It happens everytime i restart it. Applications launch normally, so i can launch something like notepad but then windows freezes when i start typing in it.

This started happening quite a while back and i cant remember if i downloaded any driver updates through windows update right before it started happening. Is there any way to tell what is causing the freezes? I cannot do a system restore.

I have nearly 5GB of free space on C drive which is where the OS Is, i do not have excessive temp files or anything.

I cannot do a system restore.
    Why not? This needs fixing.
If applications launch without delay I think it's keyboard related.
Since you are on a laptop: try a usb keyboard if you can, reinstall drivers for the Lenovo keyboard/touch pad.
You might want to take a look at all the stuff that is starting with Windows in Start > Msconfig. Removing some of the stuff in both applications and non MS services will speed the computer up even if it won't solve the keyboard issue....

Applications launch without delay, but windows as a whole seems to freeze when i start typing text right after it boots up. I can move the cursor, but windows as a whole is non-responsible (nothing happens when i click icons, the windows clock doesnt update, etc).

Theres no system restore before the program started happening. I already removed most of the non-MS services in msconfig.

I dont know if it helps, but event viewer reports the following right after a fresh boot :

Event ID 7000 ; The Aspi32 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

Event ID 11 : Custom dynamic link libraries are being loaded for every application. The system administrator should review the list of libraries to ensure they are related to trusted applications.

Event ID 7009 : A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Spybot-S&D 2 Scanner Service service to connect.

Event ID 7000 : The Spybot-S&D 2 Scanner Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Run file checker sfc / scannow
It can be that your keyboard driver is corrupted.
    schedule a check disk chkdsk c: /f

Sorry for the delay in replying, Christmas and all...

The first part of this statement contradicts the rest: either apps launch without delay or nothing happens when you click icons! If it's the later:

Event ID 7000 ; The Aspi32 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
This is a bad driver. Open regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\ASPI32 and set the parameter 'START' to 4. If any of your programs/devices complain you can always change the number back to 1.

    Uninstall Spybot
