    Acer Aspire 5920G Blank Screen (WIN7 Ultimate - 64Bit - Russian)

A friends laptop, during boot the screen showed 2 groups of about 10 vertical lines running from top to bottom on the left hand and right hand side of the screen whilst the ACER logo-wallpaper was visible. After booting I changed the VGA drivers to standard VGA and during reboot the problem disappeared. After loading the NVIDIA Drivers update from the Acer website, during the shut-down-restart process I had a BSOD.
Now during boot the screen is lit up but remains blank - with a CD in the CD Drive I can hear the laptop accessing it .
I removed the HDD and placed it in my desktop and this booted up normally. Could this be a Graphics card problem on the laptop or should I reaccess the HDD from desktop and delete the VGA driver files. If yes where and which (on the laptop HDD) could I find these files.
Failing all of the above is a there a "blind way" to access the boot from CD/USB option as I can't even access the BIOS so as to change the boot oprions and reinstall the OS.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Cyclone,
As you can successfully boot the laptop hdd from your desktop, strange, the answer is yes to your graphics card question, that lappy was shipped from 2007 so 10 years for that cards not bad.
As this is NOT an integrated card, you can get hold of a newer replacement

note that lappy was not shipped with that OS, it also needs a min ram of 4GB

My nephew has an old Sony Vaio that also came with NVidia graphics that was known to be problematic, as it runs at 90ºC and up, and after some years, it failed. Even out of warranty, Sony replaced the MB with a different NVidia graphics chip.
May also be that your laptop has the same problematic NVidia graphics chip.
As the chip is part of the MB, if Acer don't replace it for free, it will cost you more than buying another laptop.
