You can check here if you didn't clear history:
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\History
Click day then "Computer"
Right click item to get date and time from properties.
-thx for reply. No good, I do regular 'cleans' and I need d/l dates on various older files.
Well you could try your browser's download history.
Also webcachev01.dat might contain what you are looking for if you didn't clear it. The only easy way I know of viewing that is to run Privazer. Actually it's not that easy and pretty easy to screw up your system using it.
See: PrivaZer PC cleaner
Anyway if you get the portable version and run a scan with these settings - leave Start Cleaning uncheked - you might discover something useful.
For the each of options checked in the left pane - click on each in turn before running a scan and choose options.
When the scan completes view the results by clicking items in the left pane and click "traces" for each section in the right pane.
thx for your help. I was hoping there was a 'hidden' or an unknown-to-me system tag/property that would provide me the information. Afterall , how hard would it be for Windows to tag/mark a file with the date/time it was first 'created', er, uh, I mean downloaded on my computer?
-take care
MourningStar. If you right click on the program or file & select Properties & select the Details tab or the General tab you should be able to see the Created Date, which should be the date you installed it or created it.
thx Ranger4 - refer to topic title.
