Contradictory file dates in Windows 7 File Explorer when I use search
Contradictory file dates in Windows 7 File Explorer when I use "Search My Documents" with *.docx
I modified a Word file earlier today. When I view the file in File Explorer the correct file date/time is displayed, however when I search for Word files by entering *.docx in the "Search My Documents" box (in upper right hand side of the File Explorer window) all Word files are displayed but this file shows a very different and contradictory date/time. The date/time in this case happens to be is 5 days earlier – a date/time consistent with when I worked on it last week – instead of when I modified it today. And yes, there is no question about this being the same file.
This is not just a one time occurrence or a one folder situation. In File Explorer for other files in other folders this same contradictory dating situation occurs. Namely; a file with the latest modified date/time shows the wrong date/time when it is searched for using the "Search My Documents" feature in File Explorer. I cannot say whether this situation is restricted only to Word files, but that is only where I have always encountered it because I work with Word files a lot.
This has detrimentally affected me because one time I thought I had totally lost an important file and beganworking again with an older and obsolete version of the file and had to redo a lot of work.
What is the cause of this? Is this a known bug?
