    Windows will not copy data

I am trying to move a bunch of music from an external hard drive to an internal drive on my desktop PC (solid state drive). I select a bunch of folders (like normal) and either "drag and drop" or "ctrl+c" then "ctrl+v", and even right click "copy" then right click "paste"... and absolutely nothing happens. No errors, no "try again" NOTHING. It just acts like i didn't do anything. I did some searching, couldn't find anything that resolved this, or even much info on the issue at all. This is a bare bones computer. I do not use it very much. This is a recent (as of today as far as I'm aware) issue that I've never seen before.

As always, any help is much appreciated, this site hasn't let me down yet!! Thanks in advance!

This drive allows me to copy just fine to my laptop which I use daily, but it is running the latest release of Ubuntu...

So I think i may have figured it out, but then again I'm not really sure...haha. The good news is i got all of my music copied over now.

So i found a folder under an artist that had a question mark (?) in the folder name. it was visible to me on Windows, and when i tried to open it or even delete that folder it gave me a syntax error(no code, just said it had a syntax error). So what i did was plug this ext HDD into my laptop running ubuntu and moved the songs in that folder to a folder just labeled "new folder". Then deleted the folder that windows couldnt open/delete/copy/cut. Once i plugged it back into my windows pc, i copied the folder over no problems, then renamed it to what the album was minus the "?", since it wouldnt even let me enter it (can't have that character in a folder name on windows i guess). Could this have been my problem all along? It never gave me any errors before, until i narrowed it down to the one folder, and tried to copy it by itself...

You are correct the use of the ? mark is not allowed in folder or directory naming.

This MS website might help you as well.
