desktop pictograms

On my desktop I have the pictograms of different maps.
I want to remove these pictograms on the monitor without deleting those maps on my computer.
How to do?

Are these icons shortcuts (there is a little arrow in the lower left)? If you right click them, do you see "Open file location"?

No, no arrows, just a little rectangle and when I richt click just an option to open.

Go to Start, Documents and make a new folder called "Maps" or something like that. Then select all the map icons you want off your desktop and drag them to this folder.
