Password restore (windows7) does not work

This morning I tried to do a function that required my password. Windows does not recognize - I have had same p.w. for 2 years. I did a disk clean up yesterday so that may be what happened - which is not good. Anyway, I put in my disk reset usb and can't seem to get that to open. I looked on line which says put in the password that you have and password reset will open. Did that but screen just kept saying incorrect password. Can't seem to get to the reset portion of the program. Thanks in advance for any help.

Did you use a password to log in into windows? Is it the same password of that function that required your password?

"I put in my disk reset usb and can't seem to get that to open"
What are you talking about? Is it a software to find and clean passwords?

It's the windows reset program. "userkey.psw" No I don't log on to my standard account with a password. I thought of that and went to my admin account which did have a password and it does not come up for the log in. So I can't reset it there. I swear it's the disk clean up program. The last time I used it on my desktop it caused problems on that pc. I know I had a p.w. on the admin account. It is gone. Thanks for input.

If your account doesn't have a password, witch account you want to change / remove the password.
If your account has administrator rights, go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts\Manage Accounts.

Administrator account normally are deactivated (not shown on login).

To activate, on a CMD window:
    net user administrator /active:yes

    To deactivate
    net user administrator /active:no

I went to the user accounts menu and put in a password. I don't know why that password was gone - I know that I had one on the admin account. At any rate, I put the same one back in - it now works. Thank you.
