    Resource Monitor Window Hangs

    Hi,

I'm now wondering if there is something more serious wrong with my PC, and that is affecting the problem with my browsers (see here for my other thread).

I read on another archived thread about Resource Monitor, and wondered what mine looked like. I found out how to view it, but each time I try to open it, it just hangs, showing only the outline of the application window, with an image of what is behind the window!

So I now think some big clunky monster or virus is dragging my PC down, making it slow. I don't like registry cleaners, as I have had problems with those in the past, so does anyone know how else I can make my PC perform more efficiently please?

Malware Bytes shows nothing but cookies. And I regularly delete them and my cache.

    thanks

The easiest way to find the Resource Monitor, is to Right Click on the Task Bar & select Start Task Manager, then click on the Performance Tab & then click on the Resource Monitor button down on the RH corner.

If your Task Manager window does not show the tabs across the top, double click when the mouse pointer is just at the edge of the window.

Most user here use Ccleaner, which can be downloaded from here. There is a free version to download.

CCleaner - Free Download or try CCleaner Professional - Piriform

I use it, but I don't run the Registry Cleaner.

Mine does the same. It only opens a frame window and you can see what is behind.

Thanks but I don't have a problem finding how to access Resource Monitor.

The problem is it will not show!

The outline of the window shows, then it hangs. even when I access it via Task Manager.

How do you use CCleaner without registry cleaner please?

    thanks

If you install CCleaner & launch the program you will see a menu down the LH side. One of those says Registry. If you do not want to run that, then don't select it. Incidently if you do run the registry cleaner there is an option to do a back up first.

    Bligh, look this snap shot.
With explorer opened, I've lunched Task Manager and then the monitor. It opens the window, but only a frame. Everything else is transparent.

Alberto, when I want to access the Resources Monitor I do it from the Desktop, not from Windows Explorer. So when on the Desktop, Right Click on the Task bar & select Start Task Manager & then proceed from there.

Hope that helps clear things up for you.

Bligh, I launched Task bar & select Start Task Manager. I did with Explorer open to show the transparent window. It's the same thing on desktop.

I changed my theme from classic to aero and Resource Monitor opened without problem.
Went back to my theme and changed the Display from Medium (125%) to Smaller (100%) and Resource Monitor opened without problem.

With Resource Monitor running I've changed back to my saved theme and Resource Monitor continue without issues.

That means that Resource Monitor can't be launched with classic theme AND Display on Medium (125%), but once running it will run under any theme.

    - Classic theme And Display on Medium (125%) = Resource Monitor don't open.
    - Classic theme and Display on Smaller (100%) = Resource Monitor open without issues.
    - Aero theme and Display on Smaller (100%) or Medium (125%) = Resource Monitor open without issues.
