As far as I can work out lar-pc is your computer name as should be shown in Control Panel> System> Advanced System Settings> Computer Name.

User name is "Administrator.Lar-PC.001" which is the account used to log on.

That does not agree with your screenshot here:

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I wonder if I could remove all those and if I could then access just the two again correctly. Did you see that clip where it showed OWNER?

Have you set computer name to Lar-PC.001 ?
No never. I have no idea where that came from.

Yes I saw that and I'm wondering if the whole thing is down to an "Account Name" issue or a "Profile Name" issue - or both.

I wonder what would happen if you created a new user account just to test and booted into windows using it?

Well that's interesting. But I can't figure out where the other accounts came from. Just wondering if you are right though. Seems I could then give that account admin rights maybe

Owner shows up as "TrustedInstaller" for me.

I strongly suggest waiting for help from Pyprohly before making any changes.

Yes just to test. You should still be able to log into your old account.

When I can get to a current CBS.log and when I can understand some lines I see lots of discussion regarding trusted installer. But yeah that's probably a good idea. Sure do appreciate it though. As I said before if I can get to that drive and pull my stuff off it I will do a full reinstall with 7 or 8.1 and call it a learned lesson although I still wonder what happened.

Fotog673, for any other location than C:\, are you able to access the ‘Security’ tab without the “Can’t open access control editor. Access is denied.” error?
